BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, BSc (Hons) Psychology
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2004. I initially worked in the NHS and primary care trust settings and since 2008 I have worked in the private sector providing occupational therapy assessment and community based rehabilitation to clients. I have developed my clinical specialism in the area of neurological rehabilitation and, in particular, with clients who have sustained life-changing injuries and have physical limitations, which have resulted in the need for assistive equipment and environmental modifications. I manage a case load of clients who have sustained spinal injuries and have clinical experience working with ventilated clients being managed in the community, tetraplegia and paraplegia along with those who are incomplete and have varying levels of function. I enjoy the collaborative working with the clinical team and drawing on expertise of different professionals to achieve the best outcome for this client group.
Along side my case load of clients with spinal cord injury I work with and supervise clinicians working with a range of clients with neuro disabilities assessing functional skills and delivering goal-orientated, community-based rehabilitation programs. As part of my clinical work, I support the housing adaptation process and equipment provision for individuals with complex care needs.
I have extensive knowledge of the litigation process and have been instructed as an OT Expert and/or as a care and OT Expert on multiple cases for clients who have sustained a traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.
I continue to work as an independent occupational therapist leading a team of clinicians who are providing occupational therapy assessments and community rehabilitation to clients in the East Anglia area. I, therefore, maintain my clinical practice and keep up to date through specialist section forums, events, networking and peer support with other clinicians.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
