BSc (Hons) Midwifery
Hospital midwife, also experienced in managing maternity 999 calls in an ambulance call centre.
I qualified as a Registered Midwife in 2013 and since then have practised in all areas of midwifery. Currently my role is as an intrapartum core midwife; duties in this role included caring for both high and low risk women, care in theatre for instrumental deliveries or caeserean sections, as well as scrubbing in emergency situations for these procedures. I have recently undertaken clinical audit following a CQC visit. This included auditing the efficiency of maternity triage from arrival to admission or discharge.
I attended University of Surrey in February 2016, where I completed a mentorship course. I achieved my band 6 in June 2016.Alongside this role I also worked as a midwifery advisor for the pregnancy advice line. I have practised in a South East Coast Ambulance call centre, where I learnt how to use Manchester triage as an assessment tool. This position provided me with opportunities to respond under extreme pressure being able to take over maternity 999 phone calls. Examples of these include shoulder dystocia in a car as well as neonatal resuscitation.
I have also worked in a core antenatal team; this role involved maternity triage phone calls and face to face, facilitating inductions of labour as well as caring for high risk antenatal women.
I have also provided bereavement care for women undergoing medical terminations, for those who have unfortunately experienced a still birth.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
