Introduction

I am an experienced midwife having qualified in 2007 and worked for 3 different trusts. Since qualifying I have worked extensively across all areas of maternity care. Whilst on the antenatal, postnatal and triage wards I administer intravenous medication, perform and interpret CTG recordings and manage inutero transfers of care. I have extensive skills in the examination of the newborn (NIPE) having completed post-graduate masters modules and regularly run a midwife-led NiPE clinic. I regularly work on the postnatal wards and have acquired significant experience caring for women and babies postnatally. I have extensive experience in breastfeeding and management of infant feeding issues, as well as caring for women after surgical and assisted births. During my time on the labour ward, I developed skills in suturing, cannulation, management of obstetric emergencies, escalation of care, catheterisation and neonatal resuscitation. All of these skills are transferable to the midwifery led unit and home birth situation. Latterly I worked within a continuity team caring for high and low risk women providing care antenatally, in the intrapartum and postnatally. I provided care in the hospital, alongside a midwifery led unit and at home. I also have experience of private midwifery having worked in the Middle East between 2012 and 2015.

In the community setting I plan and manage care for women based upon their risk factors, additional needs and psychological needs. I have a special interest in providing care outside of guidance, advocating for and supporting women to access quality research to empower them to make informed decisions about their individual care. As a result of this I have gained experience of high risk intrapartum care in the home and of induction of labour, or often women declining intervention.

I am passionate about providing holistic, individual, safe care for the women and families I care for and am confident and competent to work in all departments, priding myself on my adaptability.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
