Introduction

I qualified as Registered Adult Nurse in 2015 and since then I have worked in various setting including wards, urgent treatment centres, accident and emergency and in the community. I have a nursing background in orthopaedics, vascular surgery, minor injuries and illness and frailty. I have experience working in busy and challenging environments due to my previous role as a Sister on a surgical/vascular ward and an Emergency Nurse Practitioner in an Urgent Treatment Centre. I am adept at working under pressure and completing tasks in a specified timeframe.

I undertake shifts in Urgent Treatment Centres to ensure I keep up with up to date practices, guidelines and skills gained in my previous role as an ENP (2019-2021). In this role, I see patients from age 2 and up for minor illness and injuries by assessing, performing physical examination, conducting tests such as point of care D-Dimer and CRP, referring for x-ray and reviewing the results to formulate a diagnosis, inform prescribing decision making or referral to secondary care.

In the timeline of my career, I have completed modules and courses to gain more knowledge in my field of practice and recently completed my MSc in advanced clinical practice which allows me to practice as an advanced clinical practitioner (ACP). As part of the ACP MSc, I completed several modules, including non-medical prescribing and advanced practical skills, which allows me to autonomously assess patients, investigate symptoms, formulate differential diagnoses and present a management plan which may or may not include prescription of medication.

As a qualified ACP, I am able to work autonomously in both hospital and community settings. In my role as Frailty ACP in the community, the care is very much patient centred and I focus on providing quality care and opportunities for patients in their homes in hope of avoiding hospital admissions. I have a keen interest in enhancing community care and providing every suitable patient access to hospital level medical treatment in the community.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
