Introduction

I qualified as a midwife in 2009. I have worked in all areas of midwifery including the antenatal ward, postnatal ward, day assessment unit, triage, delivery suite, midwifery led unit and community home birth team. 

I am currently based in our dedicated home birth team where we provide continuity of care throughout the pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period to women having a planned home birth; these women include high risk pregnancies where women have opted for care outside of guidelines. Part of my role is to provide women opting for care outside of guidelines, with up to date evidenced based information to enable them to make informed choices regarding their care and to then produce care outside of guidance letters reflecting on our conversations and birth plans.

I am competent and confident in all areas of midwifery and continue to do bank shifts on the delivery suite, midwifery led unit and postnatal ward around my role as a home birth midwife to maintain my knowledge and skills in these areas.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
