MSc Occupational Therapy
Degenerative Neurological Conditions, Stroke, Brain Injury & Orthopaedics.
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2010 with an MSc. Since graduation, I have worked with people of all ages and with various health conditions, however, my experience is mainly with adults with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury & orthopaedics. I currently work on an acute stroke unit and complete physical & cognitive assessments, provide rehabilitation and make appropriate referrals as required.
In addition to my NHS role, I am also working as an independent practitioner and this role provides me with the opportunity to meet clients with a wider range of diagnoses and further expand my knowledge, and experience. Within this role I prepare detailed reports for case managers, charities and private clients. I mainly take on cases with clients who have sustained traumatic brain injury, and fractures due to a motor vehicle accident.
I use a client centred approach to assess and make recommendations appropriate for the client based on his/her presentation in order to ensure that he/she is living as independently as possible and enjoying a good quality of life.
I have a strong interest in research and evidence based practice and this has led me to pursue a professional doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Using evidence in practice has enabled me to select the most suitable assessment and intervention tools for my clients.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
