BSc (Hons) Midwifery
Hospital Midwife covering all areas of care. Also Bereavement midwife.
I qualified as a midwife in 2003 and have practised as a rotational midwife since then. I have undertaken several midwifery roles and work in all areas of labour, antenatal and postnatal. In 2010 I undertook the role of bereavement midwife alongside my clinical duties and in 2018 I was promoted to labour ward manager and labour ward co-ordinator which allowed me to work clinically and in a managerial role. My roles have allowed me to provide care to women and their families in the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum periods. As a labour ward co-ordinator I was regularly in attendance and lead for obstetric emergencies with the obstetric team, making swift decisions whilst supporting staff.
My current role from 2021, as Maternity Workforce Matron at a University Hospital, requires me to have a strategic approach to recruitment and retention whilst maintaining operational oversight for day to day staff in the maternity unit and assisting clinically when required within the maternity unit. In addition, I regularly undertake additional shifts within the community setting with bookings and provide antenatal care for inpatients and day patients, inclusive of regular CTG interpretation.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
